1911 style .22 pistols
Got and email ad from Classic Firearms which highlighted the ATI GSG 1911 .22 pistol. The price was pretty decent IMO and I already have a few other 1911's in .45 and was thinking about adding a .22 (even before seeing the ad)
What are your opinions on the ATI GSG 1911 .22?
What other 1911 style .22's would you consider and why?
Thanks for the input.Ron USAF Ret E-8 FFL01/SOT3 NRA Benefactor Member

Had a Sig/GSG 1911, with Mini Mags it functioned fine but left a lot to be desired in the accuracy department. Take Boondox's advice and get the Colt/Walther.

The MIM slides are also prone to cracking. Get a Colt Ace slide or a good conversion kit for a 1911.

The colt/Walther are built by Umarex which is owned by Walther but it's mostly dedicated to air and airsoft guns. It appears that some of their offerings are okay while others are lacking like the original full sized M&P 22 pistol. Mine ran well but practical accuracy was shit.

I'd agree with the conversion... I had a Kimber and the kit- same trigger pull for both - GREAT for practice WITH your carry pistol.

My dad has a 'Sig' (GSG) 1911-22 and he had to put a bunch of upgrades in to even get it decent accuracy (it's no MK series that's for sure). The finish is extremely thin. Other than it functions fair enough.

I have a SIG 1911/22 I agree with everyone else. Not the most accurate, kinda ammo finicky, so-so finish and don't forget about cleaning them. It sucks to tear down and reassemble. On the plus side the mags are heavy duty. I wouldn't buy another one if I had the chance.
