Default Cleaning inquiry possible stupid question

Maybe this is a dumb question and I’m overthinking it. I recently bought a 22 revolver and went to clean it after shooting with my rods and jags and realized it’s not easy to do. I really have to work to get the patches through. The rod isn’t for a 22 it’s from a 38/357cleaning kit but fits no problem but is there a better way? What do you guys use to clean bores and cylinders, rods, snakes, Otis?

Your patch might be too big. You won't be able to fit the same sized patch as you would for your 357.

Your rod/jag is too big of a diameter. Remember that the patch wraps over the jag/rod and increases the overall diameter. Use a .22 rod/jag and it will work much better and easier. Or use, as said, a .22 bore snake.

Hoppes # 9 Soft Bristle Brush and a .22 cal bore snake gets it done nicely and the front of cylinder comes out like new !

If the extraction gets sticky clean the cylinders any way you can........But NEVER clean a 22 barrel. You don't need to since the bullets are wax coated. Way more 22 barrels have been ruined by cleaning than by shooting.

How big are the patches? I use those itty bitty ones for .22.

I agree with Boondox on the slotted tip.
