    Default Colt 6920 alternatives

So the 6920 was the standard for a go to basic AR for years. Now that it is off the market, what takes over the go to? Does the basic m4 clone from aero fit that niche, FNs basic rifle, PSA Premium line? I'm sure any are a good option, just curious what the consensus is on the go to basic rifle.

As an aside, I'm surprised so many companies still offer rifles in the basic m4 configuration.

I'd take PSA premium and have no regrets other than resale. Colts, if nothing else, hold their value.

Take a box of parts and assemble them.

    There's your go-to gun.

Really. I just don't get the gun snobbery - past or present.

How much do you want to spend? If around $700-$800 reasonable Colt price, I'd take a look at the PSA premium also. CHF FN barrels.

No I don't understand the elitism either. Especially ad no one can give empirical evidence to support it. But that is another topic.

I was just kind curious about what options available, would most closely fall into the 6920 niche. Also the fact that there are so many options still available in the basic configuration.

I have a older psa premium and yes I think it is a solid rifle.

I've been keeping an eye on Windham Weaponry. They were the makers of the original Bushmaster until Freedom Arms bought them out. They started over as Windham Weaponry.

Colt was the old school standard. But playing field has leveled as you can buy quality parts and build your own gun.

FN makes a fine rifle but your going to pay out the ass most of the time for it. Aero rifles and their products in general are excellent and most other companies parts are just rebranded Aero parts especially lower and upper receivers. My go to 16" rifles are both PSA Premium uppers with FN CHF barrels, I've had them for several years now and never an issue. I have several other uppers from PSA as well including a dissipator and a Premium 20" upper and all have been great.

Premium CHF M4 upper build kit, just add the lower of your choice. $499.99.

    Midlegnth kit for $599.99.

Unfortunately they haven't offered the kits that I purchased a few years back. They came with the midlegnth lightweight profile FN barrels and their nickel boron coated BCG's. It's been sometime since they have had those. The barrels alone sell for just under $300.00 if you can find them.
