    Default AR15 Optics Question

    I found A Reasonable Red dot sight Id like to use on my rifle but was wondering if it would have the clearance over the Front sites on my rifle, Heres the link to the optics ( http://www.opsgear.com/Tactical-4-Re...-p/ncs-d4b.htm ) I really have no clue how to tell.

    Thanks =D

    It looks similar to my Eotech. It should cowitness with your front site. So you'll be fine.

    You will most likely see the front sight when looking thru the optic if you mount it 'as is' on the rail. If you used a spacer you could probably get it high enough to not see the sight but in doing that your accuracy may suffer because of the 'high' cheekweld.

    Most people like co-witness of the sights.

    I would go over to AR15.com and do some reading before buying that red dot. The general consensus seems to be to stay far away from NCStar optics.

    I had an NCstar on my AR for all of...10 minutes. I got it on there and then took the time to bore sight it.

    Fire the first shot and the recoil hosed it. Wouldnt turn on after that.

    I have a NcStar on my SU, recoil on the SU is much more than the AR since its a piston system.

    not a red dot, its a 4x

    I havent had any problems with it, at least not after Roland showed me the scew I was missing on the underside to tighten it.

    Yep they appear to be pretty awful. Unfortunately a quality red dot optic generally costs some cash. Save your pennies and buy something good, instead of wasting a Benjamin on that thing.
