.22 crickett rifle
hello everyone i like the single shot rifles i am on a budget so i wont be paying but 114.00 for the gun , i am only using this for when i go fishing and camping , i do not hunt i want to use this for protection from wild animals , with that being said will this work okay for that ? i cant find a adult single bolt rifle in my price range , i will be using CCI Velociton 22LR hollow point 1435 fps 40 grain , has anyone else used this rifle as an adult and if so how dependable is it ? thank you .

OK. Now that I've got that out of my system, exactly what types of "wild animals" do you have in mind?

Re: .22 crickett rifle
My single shot .22lr Thompson Hot Shot has more wild animal kills on it than any other firearm I own.

all you get is ridicule, laughter,
and a trip to the house of pain.

I don't know much about them but I assume they are quite difficult for an adult to shoulder comfortably.
Can you bump up your budget to get a sub $200 9mm handgun? The Taurus G2Cs are around for that price.
I can't help but think spending the money on a genuine Kabar would be better than a cricket rifle.

Take a look at the Savage Little Rascal also, I compared both, the rascal has better sights and the bolt cocks the striker unlike the cricket, the Chiappa Little Badger is a good choice also, I have one in 22 MAG

I spent some time years ago in Air Force SERE ( Survival, Evasion,Resistance to interrogation, Escape) School...dont let the naysayers school you on your choice of caliber and purpose, with a single shot 22 ( box of ammo), swiss army knife and a zippo I could get along well fed in the bush for some time if it came to that
Personally, Id take my Browning Buckmark pistol, for critters 4 and 2 legged, much better than a pointed stick or a single shot 22 rifle
