No after leaving gun shop usually you also pick up ammo at same time of purchasing hand gun .

I know you did not ask, but a little extra info/advice. Look into getting a license to carry. Even if you plan on keeping the gun at home it gives you a little more flexibility if you need to take the gun somewhere. For instance, without a license to carry firearm (ltcf) you technically have to take the gun straight home with no stops anywhere from the ffl in. If you take your gun to the range there are conditions that have to be met that you don't have to worry about with a ltcf.

Basically a ltcf makes a gunowners life a bit less complicated.

I know it's not what you asked but something for a new gun owner to consider
Do this and do it ASAP, you do not have to have the gun to apply for the LTCF. The sooner you get it the easier life will be owning the gun.

Why do you do this? The guy came here looking for legitimate information, and you spout a bunch of ‘school yard lawyer’ bullshit to muddy the waters for him.

No, you do not need to lock up anything! You can keep the gun loaded if you want to. Yes, it is wise to keep it out of the hands of children until they have adult supervision.

Oh, and keep idiots from speaking to you and your family. They'll tell you shit like you have to tie your shoes only in the kitchen, you must wash out your condoms before tossing them in the trash, oh, and you must lock up your ammo in a separate part of your house, at least three doors away from the firearm. Or, for extra ‘public safety bonus points’ you should hand your gun in at the police station, and store the ammo at the local Fire Station. That way you will be safe and fully compliant.

    Goyabean, knock it off!

So if purchaser drives to a local gun shop jumps all the hoops required by law and also buys ammo for the firearm he's not required by PA State law to separate or lock up ammo since he's driving back home or where ever his travels take him unless he has a LTCF I didn't mean keeping it separated at home!

Handgun just can not be loaded in a vehicle without a LTCF. I'm sure that what Goyabean was referring to.

    Legalese from Josh Prince: https://firearmsindustryconsultinggr...ying-firearms/

That one thing about transporting to and from a range and taking a detour always kind of frustrated me. Go buy a handgun, stop for dinner, then go home. You're illegal?

Ah, see, I saw it as you spouting some ‘New Jerseyan’ idiotic old wives tales about gun laws. My apologies for trying to square you away.
We get new people here all the time, some looking for info, some asking the same questions in a trolling effort, some just being dickheads. Since we have no way of knowing one from the others, we NEED to answer clearly, concisely, completely and absolutely devoid of hearsay and half-truths.
I’m guilty of it too. You want to provide the answer, but, you do not want to type out six sentences, or six paragraphs to ensure the questioner gets the complete picture. I’m not into hero worship, but if you look at the responses given by GunLawyer, Uncle Jumbo, and a few others here, you will see a pattern of ‘complete, concise, and correct’ in their answers.
It is really difficult to misconstrue their answers. We ARE after all dealing with a subject that, if gotten wrong, can alter negatively the trajectory of someone’s life.

Knows the fees. Uses the word "dealer". Either this post is a troll, or it looks like josh shapiro has joined PAFOA.
