However long it takes you to bike there, it will take a lot longer to walk there. And you'll use a lot more calories to walk than to bike.

In times of severe hardship, bikes are like gold. Guns will be necessary from time to time, bikes will be necessary every day.
And a luggage rack & panniers or crates so you can actually carry stuff. And if you're really serious, a BOB trailer. And a pump, patches and tool kit on the bike so you can get home. And a gun and a lock so you can keep it all. And a BUG. And spare inner tubes, brake pads, spokes, tires, etc. at home.

I guess my bike camping experience is good for something.

Mason jars should be good to keep around. I don't can but I have them just in case I get into it someday.

The only tip I really have to offer is to consider that long-term storage is not an approach to long-term survival. It's good to be able to make it a few months on stored provisions while shifting your personal culture to one of self-sustenance, but "storing up grain," so to speak, shouldn't be your Plan A.

Agree. The storage is a stop gap to being self sufficient. Or short term emergencies.

In that case I'm doing fine...about a month's worth on my bones, a chest freezer full of food, guns and ammo in the safe and deer right across the street.

i like grain. goes well with most meats, like venison, rabbit, duck, fish, people, bear, racoon, turkey.

i told my wife about the santa clarita comment someone made, she said "don't we eat rice from a bucket?" i said "yes, yes we do."
i'd be buying the 5gallon pails of peanut butter if i knew they tasted any good. anything to cut the cost of staples down.

we have reached capacity. only way i can fit anything else in the freezers is to empty them and play tetris.
one of two fridges is full as well. pantry is half full.
There is no way to make it out alive...

Speaking of that, my 40oz gar of Gif still hasn't shipped. I didn't even have it for National PB day yesterday.
