Question What ARs do I need?

    Y’all, asking for a friend:

Let’s say someone would like to put together a stable of Ars, each with its own purpose, i.e. home defense, range toy, truck gun, neighborhood defense, 2/3-gun competition, SHTF meat gathering, big middle finger to the grabbers, etc.

For what purpose(s) would you own your AR(s), and in what format/layout(s)?

    Examples:
10½” SBR in .300BO with a can, a cheap red dot/laser/light, and a basic adjustable stock for home defense.
    - or –
7” in .223 Wylde with BUIS and a blade for a truck gun.
    - or –
20” A1/A2 with irons in 5.56 to harken back to my days with Uncle Sugar.
    - etc…

Not looking for brand names (feel free if you want), just basic whats and whys. Details can be worked out as and when needed.

I have ar pattern rifles in
    4.5
    8
    8.5
    10.5
    12.5
    14.5
    16
    18

I’m not much help here. I’ve always felt the best do all was a 14.5 with a low power variable on it

If you can only get one, you can't go wrong with the standard 16" carbine with irons.
If you want a contingency gun then a 10.5" pistol is a great addition.
If you want to go the extra mile throw an Aimpoint Pro on either of them.
I've got AR's in several configurations with all kinds of doodads, and the 2 above are really the only ones I would grab in a fight.
Just my 2 cents, I'm sure opinions will vary.

There are literally so many combinations of calibers and configurations that all you have to do is say I want to _________ , and you can do it.

    Let's see I have
10.5" 300blk pistol with silencer as bedside gun

12.5" 5.56 with can for "social work" as Jeff Quinn would say.

16" 5.56 with 4-16 scope for varmints and such

16" 5.56 Ruger SR piston AR just cause I gotta have a piston.

And the newest addition so I can knock steel targets over instead of just hearing them gong- ..458SOCOM

I like how you think. I only added the 300 BO.

You can't go wrong with an even dozen of assorted sizes and calibers
