Re: Should I buy this pointless firearm?
Your money, whatever floats your boat.
As for me, not a chance in hell I'd waste my money on that............

Re: Should I buy this pointless firearm?
NO
A friend has that model, albeit without case hardening. I looked at it, wouldn't put ammo in it. Wouldn't carry it. Wouldn't shoot it. The "futz" factor is too high.Let me help you out. Which way did you come in?

Re: Should I buy this pointless firearm?
Just a note for anybody carrying one of these with .22 mags. If you are in a dark alley late at night and fire a round, be sure to close your eyes. If you don't it will be a while before you know if you are now in the alley by yourself.

Re: Should I buy this pointless firearm?
I would watch some of the videos posted by Geographyczar on Youtube before you dismiss the ballistics/ philosophy of use for these NAA's... the speer gold dot 22mag optimized for short barrel and Hornady 45gr short barrel ammo is very interesting in these.
I agree in general to carry something else but in a pinch or depending on the social situation, these are not a bad thing to have on you.
What I like most about the Pug models is that they fit perfectly in the coin-pocket of jeans and feature an XS big dot that is easy to see - and you can hit with it within the intended 5-7 yd range.
Look, I live in Democrap-run Philly, to me anything beyond 5 yards in a defensive shooting - active shooter/ home invasion being the exceptions - you might want to consider another way to 'break contact' - 5-7 yds is the range to consider effectiveness for me.
With respect to the OP, i think that price is insane for just the added '2nd cool' of case-coloring; I got my pug for like $175 used w no buyers remorse.
I still do prefer my P32 with the 10rd mag for small-form carry but there are times when the Pug is just easier and I like knowing I have something at the ready.Last edited by bugout; February 4th, 2020 at 01:02 PM.

Re: Should I buy this pointless firearm?
For the record, the cheapest I can find the regular pug online is $280 shipped. The dude I can find for $400 shipped. The difference in price is worth it to me for the aesthetic.
However, now I'm a bit conflicted. The top break Ranger 2 model looks pretty sweet.

Re: Should I buy this pointless firearm?
I've never seen the top break model in person. It looks cool as hell!
The only fear that I would have, and I'm not sure that the fear is even warranted based on the action, is that I'd go to cock the hammer hurriedly and hit the top release lever, dropping the barrel.
For those who have used a top break model, is this even possible or am I seeing bogeymen where none exist?Sed ego sum homo indomitus

Re: Should I buy this pointless firearm?
I have the plain jane 22 mag version I got way back.
As for accuracy , I can bounce a round of a fellows noggin from the 10yd line … not sure what else you would want.
I once ran the CCI loads over my chrono and while I don't recall the numbers off hand , I recall it being about the same as 22lr from a 3 inch barrel.
I mention that just for conversation sake
