Re: .223 Reloading - Cost effective?
if you need anything for .223 let me know I have extra dies and stuff laying around you can use if you just want run a couple of rounds to try loading some .223 I buy all my bullets from midway about 80 a 1000, I get my primers from shydas in lebanon 24 for 1000, and I use H335 17.99 a lb, Im using 24.5 gr in my load witch puts me right around 2900 FPS on my crono.

You save big money by buying in bulk.. that cannot be overstated.
An 8lb jug of 4895 is like $115, vs $176 for 8 1lb jugs. Ditto for everything else. Your local gun shop may even help with shipping if you give a big enough order. I see 4895 $100/8lbs on one site.
I generally save up $800-1000 and then gut nuts with components. Will last many, many months.

when I get an extra $120 Im going to buy an 8lb jug of h335 from shydas and Im just about ready to make an order from midway again for bullets, Im just kinda holding off till I get my C&R FFL to see if I can save a buck or two from them. its been 4 weeks today since I put it in the mail box so it shouldnt be to long till I get it.

Re: .223 Reloading - Cost effective?
Sorry about joining this thread late, but I usually prep about 500 cases at the beginning of each season and fire about 6000 rounds a year. This means cases are loaded 6 or 7 times. I NEVER NEED TO TRIM!!! Trimming is way over done. For just plinking, I buy 62-grain pulls for Pat’s Reloading and WC844 (not pull down) surplus powder. I buy brass from Scharch. Surplus powder is no longer the deal it once was, the wholesale price for 8 lbs. is about equal to surplus. At the end of the season I retire the cases with the pulls and mag. primers. Match rounds are made with either Russian primers or Rem. BR primers, WC844 or Reloader 15 and Hornady bullets. The end-of-the-season reloads are very cost effective, match rounds are expensive because of the bullets, but who cares.

Midways C&R discount is a JOKE. The biggest discount I ever got was $5 off a lead melter (Lee Production pot 4 $60).
Most of it is $1 here and there. Its free, but its not really saving you.
