I use 13 grain of trail Boss under a 405 for mine. Very similar velocity and results with my coated cast bullets.

BTW, you make GREAT bullets!
It appears that so far, there appears to be unanimous support for the OP in the .45-70 direction. Once you've shot this caliber in any rifle made for it, it's nearly a futile exercise to find a round with a higher fun quotient. Good call everyone...- bamboomaster

Hmmm , I might just have 1 of each for sale.
My 1975 vintage Marlin 1895 is , light , handy , accurate , fun with mild 300gr loads , but HURTS to shoot with heavier loads. No rubber recoil pad.I don't speak English , I talk American!

okay, I know I said both, but you should buy abner's Marlin. If I had to pick, it would definitely be 4570. Recoil isnt too much if you are not frail.
