Probably a good call with the Glock, they seem to be having issues.
One of the most intimidating things my wife dealt with as she was learning to shoot a semi auto was when and how to manipulate the slide. Our M&P 22 comlact is not an exact match to the house guns but at least all of the controls (except the safety) are in the right places.
    Anyway, just a thought.

Never had an issue with mine. The manual tells you how to take the barrel off.

My MKII Target barrel fits very tight. I have to smack it with a 2x4 to seat it into the frame.

Other than that, it's super accurate, fun to shoot, and I can't recall it ever having a jam or malfunction with any brand ammo in 35 years.

I agree. That's why I said disassembly can be a bear.

A tap with a plastic mallet, and voila! Just make sure the little hammer strut is in the little cup upon reassembly. Bear? Maybe a Teddy Bear.

I have MK II Competition Target and MK III Target models. Both are excellent, durable, reliable, accurate guns. Great for learning shooting basics for sure. Cleaning can be tedious for sure, but if you follow directions in the manual or watch a few videos online, you'll be just fine. The barrels definitely fit tight to the frames, but with a little tapping, they can be removed and installed without too much fuss. I would recommend any of the Ruger MK series pistols.

With two Mk I and two Mk II's from over 50 years ago in the I and over 30 in the II, my then 8 year old son (in the middle 1980s, could strip all down and reassemble without any problems. As said, read the manual first. Dave_n
