    Default Ruger 22 pistols

    Looking at a used Ruger Mark 22 caliber pistol series...as a trainer for the household

    Appreciate any comments and advice

    I have the 22/45 bull barrel version. NEVER TAKE IT APART TO CLEAN!!!!!
    Its got to be one of the worst designs in history. Great shooter though.

    The mark 2 is up there on the horrible to take apart list.

    Never had a problem with my Mk.I once I read the manual carefully and learned to be sure the hammer is in the DOWN position.

    A Ruger Mkii or Mkiii will give you a lifetime of usage.

    I have an MKII, MKIII Target and a 22/.45 LITE MK IV. The MK IV comes apart with the push of a button. Having said that, I use the MK III for the rimfire portion of indoor bullseye. I shoot it A LOT. I only break it down ONCE a year and it isn't that hard after doing it a few times. Otherwise, it gets an occasional bore snake and exterior lube. Don't let disassembly keep you from buying an MK pistol.

    Then again you can make it a point to read breakdown instructions practicing a few times and you will get it ! A lifetime and then some of usage !
