Re: SEPA Milling Party?
Looks good but we'd have to use, or compare to a retail jig to find out.

Re: SEPA Milling Party?
OK, I was out in the garage pulling stuff but now I need to dig out a 1/4" end mill. Mine all seem to be HS. How long do the drill bits need to be? I have some pretty long ones if needed but they might be a little more difficult to weave up into the chuck. And what's the story on that drill stop collar?
And if you print a jig out and bring it along we can check it out.Gender confusion is a mental illness

Re: SEPA Milling Party?
OK, my teacher is saying that I need 4 flute end mills and mine are all 3 and 2 flute. Any input on how important this is?

Re: SEPA Milling Party?
Ask if you can toss in a couple of piccolos with the 2 or 3 flutes.

Re: SEPA Milling Party?
Weird. You tend to go more flutes the harder the material. End mills for aluminum tend to be 2 or 3 flutes. Odd numbers of flutes are to reduce vibrations while cutting. Fewer flutes also allow for better chip removal, since there is less chance the chips will bind up in the space available between the flutes. There usually isn't a problem using 4 flute end mills on aluminum, just take the feed rates a bit slower.
I'll talk to the tooling sales guy who services my work. I might be able to get a few samples from him. Given a choice, I'd go with a 3 flute end mill with a Zirconium coating. Something like this: https://www.penntoolco.com/accupro-3...-loc-37-230-0/

Re: SEPA Milling Party?
OK, sounds good. And he also just told me that the end mill has to be long, it has to stick out 2" past the collet. That explains the long one in the picture in the link that alpacaheat posted up. I don't think I have anything that long so we will need a longer shaft end mill.

Re: SEPA Milling Party?
I am happy to give a demonstration of how to finish a P80 with hand tools while we wait to use the mill for the AR's.
Frightening I know, but I can do it.
Chipping in to buy your jig is a reasonable request, it will destroy itself with use.
Same with the bits if the other guys can't supply them.
I suggest we should have 2 sets of bits in case of breakage.
Streak, I can never tell if you're serious, but if you're coming and can print out a jig that would be great.
With your experience I would imagine your bit selection would be ideal.
Please let us know if you are able to supply bits to fit the jig.
If there is cost involved we can all split it.
