Rust on brass

Actually what I would like to know is what I can do to prevent it corroding further?
I already repacked with desiccant, is that enough?
My ammo tends to sit around for years.

I have stuff from 44 and it still looks new. Dehumidifiers work wonders.
I have to run one 24/7 in the basement or everything will rot/rust. All my
ammo is there, looks like I bought it yesterday. Humidity runs from
40-50% year round.

Thus my firm belief (and many others) it comes from moisture sealed/trapped inside those PVC battlepaks. The cardboard carton against the brass absorbs it and causes the corrosion. Could also have been handled by someone with sweaty hands during manufacture and/or packing. Is it hot and humid in Malaysia?

Yeah, I get that, I pretty much do the same.
This stuff was sitting in a box in paper bags right next to a lot of other ammo.
All the other stuff looks fine, but this stuff corroded, probably has been sitting there for 10 years.

I removed them, repacked with desiccant, and reboxed in a better location.
But this is the only stuff that's been corroding in the area.
I've got ammo that's been sitting for over 30 years that looks fine.

I have a sizable amount of this ammo.
I'd like to find a way to pack it up so it will still be usable in the future.

I'm pretty sure my stuff looked ok when I removed it from the plastic packs.
So at least in my case, the corrosion happened outside of the original packaging, both the plastic and the boxes it contained.
I am thinking maybe this stuff is not manufactured with the best materials.

Oxidation like that didn't happen without moisture, regardless of the metal/alloy.

I'm sure that's correct.
My observation is that the Federal 556 sitting in the same box for the same period of time is spotless, no corrosion at all.
