    A proposed “assault weapons” ban has seen delays in both the Virginia House and the Senate, where lawmakers have expressed a lack of clarity over how to define “assault weapons” and how to implement such a ban.
    They have a real problem, seeing as how there ain't no such thing as an assault weapon. Gonna wind up describing certain shapes that look different than a monte carlo stocked semi-auto rifle, opening up opportunities for brilliant designers and manufacturers to circumvent their nonsense...like last time. And if they grandfather existing rifles of those descriptions, the 10% crimes they claim to be countering will still be out there.

    Meanwhile, a good old firebomb will still work really well for mass killing. Thrown by someone approximately 19 years old, with a five-page rap sheet yet still on the street.

    They've given themselves past edicts disallowing their going after the ones committing the crimes they claim to be addressing.

    Politicians are promoted from the lowest levels up the political ranks as they appease their supporters and the big money that promotes the national agendas. In the past, local politicians have been overlooked in considering the welfare of the nation - But these are swimming in the cesspool (or pure spring waters) from which the future choices are culled for higher office.

    Don't overlook your local government officials. Don't overlook your state reps. To have good Senators & Governors, good people need to be supported along the way. We don't really want career politicians who have no sense of the reality of living under an oppressive government, but since that is the current reality, we need to work to put good people in the right places.

    We also need to always promote the idea of smaller government to stay out of the lives of THE PEOPLE, preserving the RIGHTS of THE PEOPLE to make life determinations that suit themselves, maintaining the FREEDOM that this country was founded upon, rather than being forced to acquiesce to the 'Pious Pronouncements" promoted from an overbearing, pompous government.

    The father of slain Parkland shooting victim Jaime Guttenberg, after being escorted out of the State of the Union following an outburst, explained his actions in an interview on CNN Tuesday afternoon.
    <snip>
    Guttenberg went on to denounce the claim that the Second Amendment is "under attack."
    <snip>
    "that’s just an absolute, brutal, disgusting, vicious lie. Under no circumstance, in no place in this country, is the Second Amendment under attack, and no legal, lawful gun owner feels the sting of gun safety measures that are being proposed."

    This type of alternative reality is being promoted by the Left all across this nation. The lies are repeated over and over and over in an effort to distort and obscure the real, factual truth. If lies go unchallenged and are told often enough with enough bravado, many people can be hoodwinked and bamboozled into believing t.

    Victims of criminal violence (perpetrated with or without a gun) should have our sympathies - but any such distorted rhetoric should not go unchallenged...

    The law bans so-called assault weapons, not just outlawing future sales but criminalizing the very possession and transfer of these kinds of firearms, which include models such as the AR-15, one of the most popular guns in America. Yet, the wide-ranging ban also makes it a felony to possess or transfer certain shotguns, silencers, and even magazines. Virginians would have a year to comply and turn in their guns (or try and receive one of the narrow, restrictive exemptions the bill allows for). If they don’t, they will face jail time.

    House Bill 961, which passed by a vote of 51-48, would expand the definition of "assault firearm" and prohibit the sale or transfer of such weapons. The bill also expands restrictions on magazine sizes.

    "HB 961 would make tens of thousands of gun owners in Virginia criminals overnight," Republican Del. Nick Freitas told the Washington Examiner. "This bill creates an environment where you could receive up to 12 months in jail for every magazine you have over 12 rounds. At the same time that Democrats are voting for early release programs for people convicted of first-degree murder and rape, they are criminalizing law-abiding gun owners."

    Democratic Del. Mark Levine introduced the legislation, which will now transfer to the Senate, where it is expected to pass before being signed into law by Democratic Gov. Ralph Northam.
    https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/n...lt-weapons-ban

    The bill isn't all that revolutionary; seven states, including California and New York, already have laws in place banning assault-style weapons. If the bill passes the Senate and is signed into law, then Virginia would become the eighth state with such a law.

    Tuesday was also an important deadline. If the bill hadn't passed the House, then it wouldn't have been able to be sent to the Senate for consideration before Virginia's legislative session ends in March.
    https://thehill.com/homenews/state-w...lt-weapons-ban

    House Bill 961 makes it a Class 6 felony to import, sell, transfer, manufacture, purchase, possess, or transport assault weapons or large-capacity firearm magazines, all defined in the bill."

    It specifically bans the possession of magazines that hold more than 12 rounds.

    Under the proposed law, any person who already owns a weapon classified as an assault firearm under the new legal definition would be able to retain possession of the weapon, but future sales would be prohibited.

    <SNIP>

    Moderate Democrats in the Senate have already indicated they are unlikely to support the measure.

    If it does pass there, Governor Ralph Northam has fully endorsed the measure.

    Anyone with any question of what the Left (wherever they are located) has as a goal, can simply look at the Virginia Tyranny to know the truth!
