    Default "Sanctuary Counties" in PA.

With the 80% lower/frame debacle, and what is going on in Virginia right now, it seems more bad things are on the horizon.

The vast majority of Pennsyltucky is like the freedom loving areas of Virginia, and I could see the sanctuary county movement getting some traction, at least the idea.

However, wouldn't passing a sanctuary law at the county or local level also run afoul of the preemption statute? The preemption statute does not specify that localities only cannot enact more restrictive firearms laws locally, it just says that they can't enact any firearms laws locally.

So it seems to me that it would be almost impossible to get something like that moving in this state?

A sanctuary status would not be imposing any new laws on gun ownership, therefore would not violate preemption. That's what preemption is designed to do, prevent local laws that violate state law.

The sanctuary status would do the exact opposite, it would theoretically PROTECT us from violations of the Constitution.

The constitution is the constitution. Pledging your loyalty to following it doesn't change it.

VA has the advantage of county law enforcement being provided by local police and then county sheriffs. PA doesn't use sheriffs for law enforcement; local law enforcement and then the PA State Police who are under the "command" of the governor. The best you could hope for in PA would be some country judges and local PDs going along with it but PSP would enforce state law. It wouldn't have nearly the same impact it has in VA.

Our best bet is to not fuck up the way VA did and let the Dems take control of House, Senate and Governor.

^Nailed it. No disrespect meant to Sheriffs but in PA they serve bench warrants, handle prisoner transport, and run the jail. They are basically limited to being Officers of the Court.

Which is a damn shame that what should be the highest level of law enforcement has been neutered and leashed like a lap dog to the government.

Levels of commonwealth law enforcement is a fallacy. We used to laugh when someone attempted to threaten us by going over our heads to the state police.

We used to laugh when they told us we had to do something because their local law enforcement wouldn't.

Gun rights activists across Pennsylvania are encouraging county and municipal leaders to adopt “Second Amendment Sanctuary” ordinances to prevent local governments from enforcing a broad range of gun restrictions.

But the president of a prominent gun rights group in Pennsylvania is not on board.

“I personally believe that these things are misguided,” said Kim Stolfer of Firearms Owners Against Crime, based in southwestern Pennsylvania. “And it flaunts the law.”

    Classic Stolfer.
