IIRC, the screen name listing used to be in alphabetical order. Now it seems to be random. It's easier to determine if someone is on line (for the purpose of PM'ing and getting a quick response) if the screen names are alphabetized.

Click on "members list" on the navigation bar and you can sort them however you like. Name is default but I usually do reputation to get to the mods or my brother.

You can also click on the "Currently Active Users" title at the bottom of the index page. The list comes up in alphabetical order. Click the other column titles to arrange the list by location or last activity.
