Regal Cinemas now checking bags for guns
Well, no more movies for me. Theater shootings are about to skyrocket.

Backpacks/Packages/Bags:
Security issues have become a daily part of our lives in America. Regal Entertainment Group wants our customers and staff to feel comfortable and safe when visiting or working in our theatres. To ensure the safety of our guests and employees, backpacks and bags of any kind are subject to inspection prior to admission. We acknowledge that this procedure can cause some inconvenience and that it is not without flaws, but hope these are minor in comparison to increased safety.

They don't care that you ARE safe, they just want you to FEEL safe (so you come and spend $$ at their theater). Stupidity on display. They're still trying the same failed ideas.
My bet is that theater patronage drops. Not because of people like us no longer going, but because it will be more difficult for people to sneak their own food and drinks into the theaters. Never let a good crisis go to waste, right? Maybe it's more about that than it is about guns, but it's more popular to place the blame on guns rather than calling out the people who are actually at fault.Soap Box - Worn out : Ballot Box - Broken : Jury Box - Pending : Ammunition Box - Unknown

Are they going to make you go through a metal detector or pat you down?

I go to less than three movies a year. Being as I don't off body carry, they can check whatever bag they want to, won't find anything. Once the metal detectors and/or wanding starts, i'm out.

Sounds like security theater to me.
Rules are written in the stone,
Break the rules and you get no bones,
all you get is ridicule, laughter,
and a trip to the house of pain.

Re: Regal Cinemas now checking bags for guns
Would that even matter? What stops a would be killer from gaining entry by killing and steping over the poor bastard who works the door, or even just threatening him/her/caitlyn. Im quite sure they wont have armed/trained hardasses working security.
Society is getting more ridiculous and less free every day, in the name of security theatre, or in this case theater security.
Personally, I think i will just stay home. If you want me to feel safe then leave me alone and let me carry and I'll take it from there, otherwise count me out. I dont want or need some benevelent dunce halfassedly attempting to keep me safe by taking away my privacy and liberty.
