Default Finally Decided, but...XDM-40 or XDM-9

Not to go into the never-ending debate of a 40 or 9, but with regards to competition, range time (indoor lanes and outdoor targets), and related, would the XDM9 or XDM40 be the best solution? I'm aware 40 ammo is more and I know the 40 can be changed to accept 9mm, but for competitions such as IDPA, which would be the best investment? I'm not looking to conceal this firearm as I'll get another for that purpose. Oh, and I've used both so I'm accordingly familiar.

    Thanks again!

I didn't know the xdm came in 9mm. Did they come out with a new one?

    19+1.

The grip looks a little to "flashy" for my taste but 19+1 is VERY appealing. Would eliminate me carrying a spare mag basically.

If I had it to do over again, I'd get the .40 and then convert it. It'd cost less than getting a non-convertible 9mm, and then deciding you want the .40 or .357 Sig!

Since the barrels on them are "match grade" I'm not sure how interchangable it would be as far as buying the .40 and replacing the barrel to use it as a 9mm.

I would get the 9 so I could hit the range more.
But maybe you one of those that $$ is no object.
Either way, nice choice with xdm.

I personally would take the 9mm over the .40, because I just don't like the .40S&W round.
My vote is for the 9mm, especially if you are going to use it for IDPA. I shoot IDPA, and all I use is 9mm. More controllable, easier follow up shots, more round capacity and cheaper to shoot...

Thanks for all the replies. I'm hoping that the 9 gets in stock sooner than later as I hate waiting, but who knows. Slowly but surely!
