Yep. My brother used to live in Jenkintown and that was when the police chief had to sign off on it....which I understand that procedure is coming back.

I just renewed mine in Westmoreland County at the end of December, same as usual about 10 minutes. But, the new sheriff, a Democrat, took office here on January 6. Not sure if he will keep the process the same as it has been.

It’s always been that way here in Lancaster county, except for right after Obama was elected. So many people were applying then that they found they could not keep up and had to mail them for about 6 months.

Montco used to be in/out in 10 minutes until the latest Sheriff took over. I started the procedure to renew in Montco on 1-17-20 via e-mail and got this return/verification.

We have received your application. If there is a problem, we will contact you by email, phone or US mail. If you do not hear from us, you can come in starting 10 calendar days from the date of this email (Mon-Fri), to finish the process and receive your permit. If you can not come that day, you have up to 45 days to come in. Please make sure to be here 830-1230, Monday through Friday, in the Sheriff’s Office, 2 E. Airy St, Norristown, in the main courthouse. You will need $20, CASH, CHECK OR CARD(not Amex), any existing permit and your driver’s license/PaDOT ID. You will not receive any other notification to come to the office.
I plan to be there this coming Monday, the 27th.

I`ll also have to renew our (wife and I) Arizona and Utah this year.

Bucks County is typically quick, but if you go at the wrong time of day there's a line to wait through.

Oddly enough it's almost worse to be there first thing in the morning from my experience, but I'm glad it worked out for you
