I just threw about 50 of those gun locks in the trash after cleaning out my gun room... Do people actually use those things?

I use them to lock pistol cases when I'm traveling through unfriendly states. That's it.

Just about any gun shop will give you one for free too. Obviously there are much better options to keep out unauthorized persons. The cheapest and safest being just carrying on your person.

Not everyone is a highly trained and experienced poofa operator.

I have spoken to some city residents who got these with their purchase and use them.

Download the sheet fill it out with all your guns and make copies to send to Governor Wolf and the State police like good citizens.

I thought Gun Safety meant gun control and that only police and military should have access to guns.

I support any effort to reduce preventable firearm related injuries. In fact, I think that it would do a great deal of good if the flyer (sans the record of firearms) were mailed to every residence in the country.

Too many people don't have a clue about handling firearms and every little bit helps. In my mind there is nothing objectionable in the six "rules" presented, they seem like a solid foundation to build upon. I would use the space on the back of the flyer to expand on the safety concepts.

As stated above, not everyone is an operator.

In those conversations has the discussion of how to get the gun working if needed NOW come up?

I have an idea. Have two guns. One unloaded and ready to snatch and point at the bad guy while unlocking the loaded one.
There are two kinds of guns. Those I have acquired, and those I hope to.

If responders find someone shot/stabbed/beaten dead, one hand on the locked gun, key in other hand, would that be a basis for suing the person who supplied the lock?

No. The person willingly applied the lock themselves.

You beat me to it. I was going to comment that they got the first four rules accurately enough, but the last two images render a firearm useless. It's usually too late to think about loading it when you realize you need it.
