Considering that I'm having zero luck finding the king cobra target I will be buying the first python I can get my grubby boomer hands on. I only hope its high polish. The blasted sparkling cobra isn't what I consider a nice finish. The king cobra was better. The high polish cobra is fantastic.

Iunno about blaming the EPA. As of a couple of months ago (the document is labelled Q3 2019), it was possible to send the Colt Custom Shop a 1911 to get the Royal Blue finish...

I think the biggest thing is the Royal Blue finish is very time consuming with lots of labor. From what I read it involves polishing with a lot of different mediums, with the last medium resembling fine talc. It's probably too expensive nowadays (in Colt's mind) to offer for a mass production revolver.

Hell I'll buy one at that MSRP just to have it. A revolver is a range toy for me anyways and that 4-1/4" barrel variant looks sexy as hell.

The 357 revolver size frames look perfect to me with a 4” barrel.

I prefer a Model 19 personally, but wouldn't mind having a Python either.

I have a 1978 vintage Python in Royal Blue but I may be interested in a stainless 4.25" model! In the long run, I don't think the new models will affect the value of the vintage, hand fitted guns.

What I'm seeing on the interwebs is that Colt no longer manufactures any of their revolvers. Short and sweet- they outsource all of the parts and assemble them.

If the new ones are like the 1969 Python I have coming my way, Ill buy one to shoot. I feel that you get what you pay for and, IMO the Python is one of the smoothest actions I have ever felt.
