It probably had more to do with CompStat than anything Giuliani did. The same system that cleaned it up is to blame for a lot of the mess that is NYC now. It backfired on them.

Giuliani brought in Bratton, who utilized the Broken Windows Theory to revolutionize policing in NYC. CompStat helped track the crimes and show where specific enforcement was needed, but the boots on the ground enforcing quality of life issues and misdemeanors along with addressing felonies is what helped change NYC.

Bloomberg is now apologizing for the success! What mess is that ? How did it backfire on them ?

Exactly, liberals think that cameras will protect people and stop crime. If that were true, we wouldn't thousands of youtube videos of criminals committing crimes int he obvious presence of a camera.
