Hot off the presses -VA hides behind guns..er bans guns from the Capitol

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Virginia lawmakers voted Friday to ban firearms at the state Capitol, the first in what's expected to be many contentious gun votes in coming weeks.

Newly empowered Democrats in the General Assembly voted to ban guns at the Capitol and a legislative office building, saying the move was needed to protect public safety.

Public officials have expressed concerns about planned Jan. 20 rallies that are set to draw huge crowds of pro-gun and gun-control advocates. Gun advocates from around Virginia and even out of state have pledged to turn out in force to highlight their resistance to proposed gun-control measures.

Check out this arf thread for updates from the VA statehouse today. Similar to how MDA is kowtowed to at our capital, they're also given the red carpet in VA. They make up less than 1% of the crowd.

    FROM AR15.com:

"The committee has decided that Moms Demand Action shirt wearers get to go to the front of the line!

The State Police just came out and said the committee decided they get equal representation in the meeting room!"

This is similar BS they tried to pull at the PA Senate judiciary meetings a few months ago---- It got loud in the hallway outside before the meeting. Chants of "USA...USA..." soon followed by a few LEO's herding us in the opposite direction. It could have gotten ugly.

From the live feed above it appears "SB16" was taken off the table----This was probably one of those bills where they throw against the wall to see what sticks-----it's real bad:

"Prohibiting sale, transport, etc., of assault firearms and certain firearm magazines; penalties. Expands the definition of "assault firearm" and prohibits any person from importing, selling, transferring, manufacturing, purchasing, possessing, or transporting an assault firearm. A violation is a Class 6 felony. The bill prohibits a dealer from selling, renting, trading, or transferring from his inventory an assault firearm to any person. The bill also prohibits a person from carrying a shotgun with a magazine that will hold more than seven rounds of the longest ammunition for which it is chambered in a public place; under existing law, this prohibition applies only in certain localities. The bill makes it a Class 1 misdemeanor to import, sell, barter, or transfer any firearm magazine designed to hold more than 10 rounds of ammunition."
