Default Rumor: MontCo S.O. Bringing Back Chief of PD Letter Reqirement

Ran into someone who just renewed with MontCo Sheriff and said effective Jan 1st they are requiring a sign off/letter from your Chief of Police. This is in addition of their requirement to have references filled out on the application.

    Anyone else hear this?

I’m not up until March but wondering what option here are to change this?

    Thanks!

If you had lost your card you could go and renew now.

Did you check their website? All the requirements are listed on our Sheriffs section on the county web site.

Seems to me, back around 2006-ish Montco required a Chief of Police hoop. Friends in Lansdale had to do it, IIRC.
There are two kinds of guns. Those I have acquired, and those I hope to.

They did in 2010 when I moved here too, but that was for a new one. I'm not sure if the OP is saying it is now required for a renewal as well.

To make it more difficult for law abiding citizens to keep and bear arms in an effort to slowly erode individual firearm ownership out of existence.

And I don't have a chief of police so I guess I'm exempt
