Quietest Hunting Season
I've been in this house for 14 hunting seasons now and this is the quietest we've experienced! Since Sept 1 we've heard 1 shotgun blast over the lake for Geese and 0 shots during small game season besides no one running dogs through the Game Lands (we abut an 1,110 Acre tract) Deer season including muzzleloader brought no more than 4 gun shots heard.
My own 35 acre woodlot seems oddly quiet too. I kicked up one grouse at the end of my driveway yesterday while going for mail and that was the first one I've seen in years. I used to hear them drumming occasionally. The area is getting game poor.

Re: Quietest Hunting Season
Agreed.
I hunt in Tionesta and Avella and archery in my back yard.
This year ( although I scored a buck in nearly archery and a doe in regular archery) the amount of shooting I heard was by far, the least amount I ever heard.
Old mans rifle doe season, maybe 3 or 4 shots.
First Sat of statewide rifle, same thing. Probly less than 10 to a dozen. First Sat for buck and doe, half a doz.
Quite a few guys I know scored buck and some doe so overall, many got deer both in archery and rifle but shooting was sparse at best.Opinions are like anal apertures. They all stink but mine.

It was a little quieter here too. Less folks are hunting. A lot of the younger folks don't hunt these days.

Re: Quietest Hunting Season
We have too many deer in my area, on my property and the surrounding 30 acres there are at least 30 maybe more deer that came through sometimes twice a day. Many of my neighbors as far as a half mile away want them hunted because they are destroying the fields, and gardens, but none hunt.
I'm going to oblige them and start hunting the property behind my house next year which never really interested me before since the deer sometimes come right up to my back window.Join the GOA & save $5.00. https://www.gunowners.org/mac-subs-join-goa.htm

Some hunters are using suppressors.

It has been like that for a few years now. There are deer, but either around developments or in such rough areas that you can't get at them. Less hunters out to bump them around too. I am surrounded by thousands of acres of State Game Lands and State Parks and you barely see a car anymore.

I'll be out for flintlock season. But with my bow. So won't be much noise from me.
