Annual Harrisburg Rally - June 8, 2020

I’m putting in for vacation that day so it’ll be myself and the mrs. I’ve never done this before. I skipped to the end of this thread but are folks bringing their AR’s or rifles?

If you plan on going inside don't bring a rifle or pistol AR. You will only be able to check pistols. If you're only going to be outside, then feel free to bring whatever you like.

I'll likely have a pistol AR because both of my legislators hide out or don't come in during rally day. No use going inside for me.

Would it be wise to come in on the weekend? I’m not sure how traffic will be and where to actually park and things like that. I’m about 2 hours away. I may look for a near by camp ground to go to for The Weekend and end it at the rally. That actually sounds fun!

There are many parking garages within walking distance of the Capitol steps.
Lots of us drive similar distances the day of the rally, traffic has never been a problem.
We will post links and maps before the rally.

Yes, I believe the rally will be held on the steps this year, and many of us head inside to speak with our representatives afterwards. There are multiple entry points, but handgun check in is only done on the opposite side of the building, north corner by capitol police. I’ll see if we can’t get the paper check in slip link here, it helps speed things up.

If the weather is nice, I believe I will be riding in on my motorcycle(finally). Any clue if HPD or Capitol Police will let me park on the side walk near the steps off of Third St? I'll probably also be carrying the AR, so be ready to see a new lurch OCing a 1911 with a slung AR riding a fatboy Valkyrie around Harrisburg that day.

I'm gonna say probably not. You could always call and ask. If not I've seen motorcycle spots in the parking garages there. I don't know if they're any cheaper, but you probably will get a spot easier.
