Default State game land range question

Stupid question - If I take my 5.56 AR pistol to the state game land pistol range, do you think I'd run into trouble with a game warden if they saw me shooting what looks like a rifle? It is by definition a pistol, but looks like every bit of an AR 15 rifle. Just a random thought I had.

I don't see any listed prohibitions in their rules on it.

I go to a state game lands range 2-3 times a month to shoot. I often see others there shooting braced AR & AK pistols. The game warden has come by 3 times while I was there, but the only tickets I've seen him write are for not having a range access/ hunting license. One guy got ticketed for firing a full 20rnd magazine as well.

Yea, I have only seen tickets for too many rounds in the magazine.

You aren't required to have a "hunting" pistol or rifle on a gameland range, but be aware of capacity restrictions as others have said.

I dunno, permit or hunting license needed for the range near me.

Ok, thanks for the responses. Yes, I'm aware of the rules there. I just had that concern about AR pistols. I've never had a bad run-in with a game warden there. It was just more of a "what if" kinda thought.

For varmints or Coyotes an AR pistol would meet the requirements from what I understand, as long as you had a small enough mag.

Huh. According to the dictionary varmints is informal. (couldn't remember if it ended in s or es)

You can use semi auto rifle, but I dont believe you can use an auto loading pistol

IMHO, shooting at a SGL range is basically playing russian roulette.

If you are really worried about being cited because it looks like a rifle only load three rounds at a time.
