need recommendation handgun safe
Looking for gift. 3 grandsons in their house and they want to store a sig227 and a sig238 in bedroom.
Accessibility a must, looking for mechanical locking, nothing fancy like biometric or chip.
Thanks. It ain't what they call you, it's what you answer to.

Fort Knox Pistol Safe.
Best there is, worth every penny.
Do not buy from Amazon, some of the stuff is counterfeit, get direct from Fort Knox or one of their authorized dealers.

We have his 'n' hers V-Line Desk Mates that we bought over 20 years ago for the same reason. Never had any problems.

The department that I worked for gave officers one of the GunVault quick access safe's if they wanted one to secure their duty gun in when they took it home. I know that they make a bigger one that will hold a couple of guns.

I’ve been using two gunvaults for over a decade. One on each floor of our home. Never had any issues at all.

I haven't looked at what's on the market in ten years, but my Gunvault has never given me any trouble.
When I bought it, I couldn't find anything that allowed for faster access.

Re: need recommendation handgun safe
I used a couple of Gunvault units. After a few years the button contacts on top started to wear. When that happens, you cannot open the safe quickly. I had to slowly enter the code in order to open it up. If was not a safe feeling, pun intended.
I then replaced them with their biometric versions. What a total failure for me. The fingerprint system worked probably 10% of the time. I tried programming it before I washed my hands, after I washed my hands, all options. Maybe it is my fingerprints, but these were a disaster for me. I am sure they work fine for others. Luckily I was able to take them back within 30 days for a full refund.
After more research, I bought the Verifi model safe. I programmed one set of fingers as user1 and another set as user2. I have had this for over two years now and I can honestly say it only failed to open three times. Each was because I did not have my fingers on the reader anywhere like they should have been. I mean way off. That is three times over two years of daily use opening it at least twice a day. I would use nothing else.

Another +1 to the Fort Knox.
Simplex locks are fast and more reliable than any electronics.I am not a lawyer.
