Default Shotgun Mops-Why Did I Buy Them?

And the answer is not because I have money to burn. It seems to me, the only good for them is oiling the barrel of a shotgun/spreading the oil around. It seems they could be used to put solvent in however that would surely make them of limited amount of uses.

So, again, why do you have them?

With the long stick "mops" that are the size of a barrel......just cause I am lazy. A drop of two of oil and a few strokes and the barrel is clean enough. I can go a year or two without using anything else.

For the .410 mops.......Every rifle shooter needs one. They are great for cleaning the oil out of rifle chambers when you are finished cleaning the barrel. Also works for large caliber handgun chambers. Never used one on a shotgun.

For the 12 and 20 ga mops........only used every year or so after I give my barrels a good cleaning with solvent and a brush.

    ^^^THIS. Especially the .410 bit.

Plus I use the 12 and or 20 swabs for cleaning .50 and .58 muzzleloaders.

I hate mops they tend to be a pain in the ass. I am still trying to figure out why I bought these things.

So, mops generally are to apply oil because cleaning would just destroy them in short order? Anyway, still in package ha ha!

I put my shotgun swabs in an inexpensive zippered mesh bag intended for machine laundry of women's lingere, and toss it in the washing machine with a load of "work clothes". They come out clean and ready for another round of use.
