You never heard that one? I thought everyone knew it, almost by heart. It is a hunting season classic in my haunts. Glad to bring it to your consciousness.

Hauling my camper to Cowans Gap SP on Friday. I haven't hunted that area for about 10 years....so we'll see. I'll be solo.

Tree stands have been set for several weeks, and my annual "sighting in" has been done. First shot was center bull from 50 yds, just like every year.
That's all I need to see, as every shot at deer is a cold bore shot.

Lots of deer here; we got a nice doe last week with a bow. Here, it looks to be a good season.
Boy, I say boy, you're reaching the limits of my medication!

Daughter is home from school and with Saturday hunting she’s able to head out with us. The bucks on the cams have all been nocturnal since archery season. Will need us or others to kick them out to see one.

I read a post on Facebook this past week from a guy that used to be on the PGC board. The reason is.......Fudds.

In case you never noticed, PA hunters are the most entrenched, back-assed hunters in the nation. There is STILL a sizable component of hunters who want only three days of doe and the rest buck. And this is in spite kf the fact that they've been shown repeatedly that having only three days of doe vs. running it concurrent with buck does NOTHING to affect the overall take of deer. The numbers of deer killed remain the same regardless of the length and timing of doe season. As such, PGC opts to split the difference. Extend doe season, but stagger it from buck the first week.

I could not hunt the past 4 years and was prepared to take a doe opening day as a meat hunter.Glad my buddy put me wise.Still PGC makes no sense as a lot of doe will not be harvested and be subjected to winter starvation/Car hits etc !

No. That's whst I just got done saying. It really doesn't matter how many days of doe there are, because most people will hold off their hunting days until they can take either sex. As such, the number of deer taken annually really doesn't change much. The hunting effort just gets concentrated on certain days.
