Put a piece of 1200 on a .22 bronze brush, chucked it up and did the chamber, and did the rim of the mouth. The wide abrupt band on the ammo may be it. Gonna try other brands. I manually cycled it slowly, and saw how the cartridge is meant to feed. Gouging of the fail-to-feed bullet tells of something different happening when it fails to function. Could be a matter of timing caused by as yet undetermined problem.

With anything mechanical, try the easy stuff first. Ammo.

    Thanks!
There are two kinds of guns. Those I have acquired, and those I hope to.

Just came across something to think about. Guy was having reliability problems, someone suggested that a .22 blow-back bolt is held forward by the hammer and the spring tension of the hammer along with the bolt spring. Guy changed hammer and hammer spring configuration and that was the answer. Presently, my hammer is the poly .22 hammer supplied with the Frontier lower.

I've been wondering about the timing, and this would be a way to adjust it.

ETA- Installed steel FCG and a stiffer hammer spring. Improved function, ammo still shaving. Gonna buy a few varieties of ammo and see if that helps.

The thing that bugs me is, there are reports from owners who claim theirs will digest anything they feed it. That's where I want to be.

Success! Fired 100 CCI standard velocity without a hiccup. Fired 40 Federal, no problem. Fired 10 Golden, no problem.

I had applied Pro-Gold grease to all mating surfaces that move. It was either that, or there is some cred to the break-in theory, or both.

Anyway, I am so happy that this build works so well. It seems accurate, too. Didn't shoot from bags on a bench, shot between the wiggles on a pistol range, and got good ragged groups.

Thanks to all who took interest in it.
