Nikon is Exiting the Rifle Scope Business
https://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/ni...cope-business/
"TTAG spoke to Nikon’s advertising agency who confirmed the news. We’re told that this is a business decision Nikon has made based on their position in the highly competitive optics market."
Don't have any but looked at them. May be some good deals on closeouts. It ain't what they call you, it's what you answer to.

Re: Nikon is Exiting the Rifle Scope Business
I rather like my 2 Nikon scopes. Had a nice app for my cell that I could load bullet weight and muzzle velocity and it would give you bullet drop for the BDC reticle. Decent glass too.
Bummer- I suspect that they'll stop supporting the app as well

Re: Nikon is Exiting the Rifle Scope Business
Pretty much. But also knowing what departments carry the load in the budget. You dont burn those departments customer bases. Which in this case is journalists, camera crews, bloggers, news companies, film production companies, moms, etc etc and so forth.
Foolish to throw all that away for what essentially amounts to a niche market segment that was just a way to burn up overstock and seconds lens inventories.

Re: Nikon is Exiting the Rifle Scope Business
Judging by their global site, https://www.nikon.com/products/ cameras and camera lenses are a small part of the business. Medical and industrial products seems like a larger share. I see nothing related to movie, tv cams and the like.
I have one scope, it is nice and like ExF said the app works well for calibration. I see a lot of refurb scopes in Natchez catalogs and elsewhere, which makes me wonder about the overall quality of the brand.

Re: Nikon is Exiting the Rifle Scope Business
I was looking at their reflex sight for my AR pistol.
Seems they were only half-interested in shooting sports since they are the ONLY ones to offer a reflex sight with no riser available to mount on an AR15. Dumb.

Re: Nikon is Exiting the Rifle Scope Business
Latest Natchez catalog has two pages of Nikon scopes at up to 60% off. At the very top is Lifetime Warranty (on scopes that do not contain electronics).
Lifetime warranty? Huh?? How?There are two kinds of guns. Those I have acquired, and those I hope to.
