He has said he will attend GOP caucuses and meetings----The bottom line it's about the numbers for now. Dems have 1 less in their eyes and on paper. How he votes is another story. FWIW, he has an 87% rating from the NRA regarding being pro gun. That's higher than most SE PA Republicans.

I see it as a black eye for the Democrats as well, he's defected to the other side.

Party politics is a GAME - But the politicians (like lawyers) don't live with the consequences.
THE PEOPLE live with the consequences of the far-too-often facetious and self-serving actions of politicians.

Arlen Specter had a NRA Rating of 93% - And still stuck the knife in the back of gun owners !

This type of Republican/Independent creates a perfect 'story-line character' for the media to characterize bi-partisan support for crazy things that are wholly Democratic socialism. It's one thing to support those who broadly support what you believe in, but completely different when they, 'in name only', want to be 'on your team'.
