Default Need Help With Model 19 Grip Choice

This is a new to me Model 19-4 which didn't come with wood grips. I purchased two options of wood grips for identical price and am struggling with which to keep and which to return.

First: original factory grips. The 'issue' here is the finish on the rest of the revolver is PERFECT. The grips are more worn than the rest of it so they look slightly out of place. Flawless factory grips go for way more money than I want to spend (like $150-200).

Second: new production, the obvious issue here is they aren't original.(btw I didn't install these, I just layed them on top if you notice it looks a bit weird)

I suppose the question is - do I want it authentic or flawless?

Both sets look fine, but I prefer the authentic by a smidgen. Your mileage may vary...
Revisiting this, the authentic just look better, notably the checkering is much better.

I always pick authentic unless something vastly improves my shooting.

If ya intend to sell it or post pictures , originals are always the best bet , but those are a terrible choice for shooting magnum loads , in my hand anyway.

Get a set of Hogue finger groove exotic hardwoods if yer gonna shoot.

Neither dump the target stocks, put a set of service stocks on it.

First gun that I bought for myself was a S&W Model 66 .357 magnum back in the fall of 1985. First thing I did - dump the stocks that came on it.
Not a fan of those grips at all.

Of the two choices, I'm with Noah - original by a mile. Who's the manufacturer of the aftermarket grips? They need to be beveled at the top of both grip halves. I was expecting Altamonts. Abner13 is right - stock targets are terrible for actually shooting the gun, especially with magnum loads. I have two 19-4's - one wears a checkered Hogue monogripo and the other OE smooth GA presentation stocks (it's a PASP commemorative).

Find a pair of factory if you can or replica S&W Combat grips, if not I like number one.

    Adios,

It came with a pretty decent Pachmayr checkered rubber grip, so I do have an alternate option for an extended range session if I wanted. But to be honest it's going to be occasionally shot with .38 specials and sit in the safe to look pretty and be admired much more often. Good catch on the beveling. The manufacturer was listed as Smith & Wesson on Numrich, but I don't believe that to be true. They are making new target grips for the newly reintroduced 19-9, but I don't believe these are them (they're backordered on Midway and have been for awhile).

Looks like it's a land slide so far, so the new ones will be going back. Thanks all.
