Thanks! I wasn't paying attention when I posted, meant to put in the what did you buy thread but can't delete for the life of me. You click on the edit tab and it says "edit/delete" but can't figure out how to delete - oh well, not the end of the world. Maybe folks will be interested in 38 super and better to have on it's own to chat

Not a lot of them out there. I have another 38 super 1911 and always liked. I have never heard of a revolver 38 super round ???

    Some posts on the round:

The .38 Super has about 40% more energy than .38 Special, on average, and Cor-Bon .38 Super loads have .357 Magnum level power.

The FBI used to issue the 1911 in .38 Super during the Prohibition era for it's ability to penetrate the car bodies of the period. Recently, the Secret Service tested it, but settled on .357 SIG instead.

The .38 Super wins hands down. While it never really caught on with the general public it is still a favorite law enforcement round in central and South America. It is also preferred by many national competition shooters here in the US. The .38 Super is the original magnum round. Developed in the 1920's for big game hunters who were demanding a powerful semi-automatic handgun for back up. It is still available in the 1911 style pistols. This is a favorite caliber of mine and I was really surprised when they invented the .357 sig, as it is just another attempt at the .38 super.

The 38 super was big in IPSC shooting back in the 1980s-90s. It met major power factor, gave you a few more rounds in your 1911, and worked well with compensators. The down side was that it was really loud and if you were the RO following the shooter thru a stage, it was not pleasant.

Cruzans, I agree those are some fine grips and meet the pimptastic qualification.

Picked her up today - love her! Lots of "what's that" at the shop. Because it's 38 super auto, the grip is not chunky at all and feels extremely nice in hand! A little mothers wax and my new pimped out grips when they arrive and all set.
