Is the NRA purposely trying to piss members off?

At one time the NRA was necessary to get the word out regarding pending anti gun legislation and rally gun owners to make calls, send letters, etc. Sure it still does that to a degree, but the internet and forums like this one have largely taken over that role. Also it seems it is the grass roots organizations that really mobilize gun owners to appear at hearings. I used to live in Virginia and have been following events there. The Virginia Citizens Defense League is the one leading the charge against proposed anti gun bills. In fact friends in Virginia tell me they have heard nothing from the NRA.

As a paid up life member of the NRA I am not turning in my membership, but will be directing my dollars to other organizations that are leaner and meaner.
