    Default Renew LTCF

So, I am looking to do it online this time around. It has not expired, doesn’t until the end of December. my question is if I did it today would it add onto that December expiration date or with a new expiration date come back a month so to speak because I’m doing it in November? Second question, do I still have to go in and have my picture taken or will they just send it based off of my photo on the last one? If I still have to go in, then there’s really no convenience to doing it online unless I’m missing something?

Delco here. You fill out the "paperwork" online with Permitium. You can not Apply before 60 days, if you do when you hit "submit", Permitium will reject.
The "approval" of the paperwork should be less than 30 days. Permitium will send you an email.
You have to go in to the sheriff's office for a new photo. When you go in for the photo, thats the date on the new/reissue LTCF.
So for example in my case, I went in for the photo one week before expiration on the old LTCF. The reissue LTCF was dated on the day the photo was taken and the license issued at the sheriff's office and I lost one week on my new 5 year license. Which I thought was kind of shady, but not enough to make a difference.

Shady, yes. But when you figure a $20/5yr LTCF is just a hair over a penny a day, getting it done early to avoid expiration is pretty cheap.

    My 2¢
    YMMV
    etc...

Online I believe it's $25 so it's actually a little more per day. And I find it more ridiculous that he's worried about that little bit vs the extra $5 to do it online.

I guess so long as I can renew in person and get it the same day then really no need for me to do online?

That's where I'm at. But I think that some things have changed since you and I renewed last. The last I heard (unverified) the airport outlet was not an option and you need to make an appointment. It has been a while and I do not know if that is still the case.

OK that is very helpful. Thank you. I guess it would be best for me to do it online as I have another individual so that we both can go into the same time and get our photos taken and be done.

In Lehigh County the renewed license is valid for 5 years from the issuing date so if you renew early you lose those days.
