Question What would you do? Am i my overreacting?

Recently my wife's friend heard a loud banging on her front door at 11 AM. She had the chain on the door and when she opened it, a man stuck his foot in and demanded she opened up the door. Still pounding on the door he never identified himself or his intent. This woman was scared out of her wits and didn't know what to do. I thought to myself, if this was me would I find a phone and call 911 or grab my pistol and say if you don't get your foot out of my door, I'll blow it off.
After a bit, the man identified himself as a process server and wanted to give her a warrant to appear in court to appear as a witness.
The way that he goes about serving people, he must have a death wish. Can I get some opinions on this. Joe

Those doorbell cameras are a good idea. Then you would have a picture of your visitor.

Personally , I answer the door with a pistol in hand if it's someone unexpected/unknown. A .45 in the face trumps a foot in the door every time.

Justifiable shooting if he continues to act that way and not identify himself. What the fucking kind of legitimate process server would act like that? I can also guarantee my memory of whatever I was supposed to be a witness to would become very unreliable.

I'm sure if she were to report it to the court, they'll "investigate" to find that he remembers it differently.

Pounding on the door. I'm not opening it. I'm going to yell through it. I'd already have the pistol.

Demand they identify themselves and their intentions and if they do not do this immediately call 911.

I have the doorbell camera. If an unknown rings the bell I can see, hear and question them via the app from wherever I happen to be. The ring is set to sound like a barking dog.
