M1910 / M1923 M1 Rifle Cartridge Belt
There are ten (10) pockets, each of which holds one (1) enbloc clip of eight (8) rounds for the M1 Rifle (Garand) for a total of 80 rds.
The earlier M1910 belt was for the M1903 Springfield Rifle. Each pocket was "shirred" or "bunched up" at the bottom to make the pocket tapered to snugly fit two (2) five-rd clips of 30-06 roiunds, the clip toward the rear of a pocket was secured by a narrow second strap under each flap. The flap itself held the outer five-rd clip in place.
The M1923 belt was still used for the M1903 Springfield, but was later modified to delete the inner strap and the elastic-looking shirring at the bottom of each pocket. This belt was used during WWII and Korea for the M1 Rifle, and is the belt in your Imgur photo.

Re: Help ID'ing this web gear.
Thanks for the info. I dont have an M1. But it's a neat looking piece of gear. It will look great hanging on the wall.

From the green color instead of khaki , I'd say Korean-war or later. Perhaps even early Vietnam. Some unit did go over with M1's , and we provided M1s and accoutrements to others.

Re: Help ID'ing this web gear.
very late WWII belts had been changed to green color. all post war belts are green. these ar link stamp dated on the inside of the waist belt. if it is US marked it is Army or Navy. If it is blank on the outside it will be ink stamp marked USMC for the Marines on the inside.
