Default Re: German surplus ammo question

Me and a friend went out and shot some of the German surplus and US (M80) 7.62x51

    We used his PA-10

The German stuff was very accurate compared to the M80 at 100 (1in group) & 200 (1.5in group) yards

I'm looking at getting some of the German surplus

Are there any other (foreign) surplus you have shot that is worth shooting and or accurate from a AR-10

Austrian Hirtenberger is pretty damn good. There was a huge mass of 1975-1980 battle packs imported a few years ago. Most of it has sold out but might still be found at some vendors.

    ^^^This!^^^

Australian ADI, South African PMP, Portuguese FN, Spanish Santa Barbara, German DAG and MEN, and Swiss are also good if you can find some.

Never tried the Malaysian but I heard its good too.

Avoid Indian and Pakistani at all costs.

It's great ammo. Very accurate and supposed to do more damage than the usual FMJ.
The jacket is thin on the cannelure. Breaks there causing what the M193 was supposed to do only on a bigger scale.

Funny, I recently got a bucket of range brass from a friend and some of this .308 brass with the printing on the side and removed headstamp was in the bucket.
