Sounds like problems waiting to happen. What if you were at the range earlier in the day or the day before? Or residual Hoppes, Froglube, or whatever from a recent gun cleaning? There are a number of ways this could set off a whole round of bullshit. How would the dog differentiate between an officer's sidearm and someone in a crowd?

Maybe all this in a vehicle search, mass transit or someone that's singled out for a particular reason, but other than that, it seems like pissing in the wind.

Right, and a Warminater cop that would meet a little boy at Willow Grove Park Mall with a bag of dildos and condoms is above dropping a roach under your seat. Or, a gun into your center console.

I heard that about a decade ago that PSP bomb dogs were also trained to find hidden firearms and spend casing.

Assuming the cops don't plant evidence in "false alarms" (which is a big assumption) those cases wouldn't result in criminal prosecution, so there wouldn't be a record of the false positive. So how would anyone know that the dog is not reliable?

They even have dogs that can sniff out Computer items now. SD cards, Thumb drives, and external hard drives. It's crazy butu I guess you can train a dog to sniff anything out if you have the time, money and need.
Jimmy cracked corn and HE didn't care! Why should I?
