Pass HB 1066 and Hold Local Governments Accountable!
The Pennsylvania House is back in session. So it's important that your Representative hear from you soon.
There is pro-gun legislation pending that would stop gun-grabbers like Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto from imposing gun control.
Pennsylvania State Capitol
As you know, the Pittsburgh Mayor and City Council violated Pennsylvania's firearms preemption law by passing three illegal gun control ordinances in April of 2019.
But the strategy of the gun-grabbers is far more insidious.
Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto is on a national crusade to bankrupt you, the law-abiding gun owner, by forcing you to spend thousands of dollars in legal fees to fight these blatantly illegal ordinances.
And while you are scraping change to find an attorney to defend yourself, these rogue cities and municipalities are getting free help from billionaire Michael Bloomberg's Everytown for Gun Safety.
Make no mistake about it, Bill Peduto's agenda is to end firearms preemption through a financial "war of attrition" against your Second Amendment rights.
But there is good news: The House Judiciary Committee recently reported HB 1066, a bill that will hold these rogue municipalities accountable.
Representative Mark Keller's (R-86) bill provides law-abiding citizens the ability to recover damages, reasonable attorney fees, and costs if a court finds that a local ordinance violates the state firearms preemption law (Title 18 §6120).
Not only that, but the bill allows membership organizations, like GOA, to sue on your behalf.
Don't allow your gun rights to be held at the mercy of Everytown and their political henchmen.
Contact your state representative today and urge him or her to pass HB 1066 without amendment.

P.S. Please urge your state representative to pass HB 1066. And if you’ve let your membership lapse, make sure to renew your membership in Gun Owners of America today for only $20!

HB 1066 Stalls on House Floor!
The Pennsylvania House Republican leadership is stalling pro-gun legislation.
HB 1066, a bill to strengthen firearms preemption, was reported from the House Judiciary Committee on September 24th and was "laid on the table" without further action.
This is unacceptable!
That is why I am asking you to take action and send a message to House Speaker Mike Turzai (R-28) and Majority Leader Bryan Cutler (R-100) urging them to bring HB 1066 to the House floor for a vote immediately.
As you know, the Pittsburgh Mayor and City Council violated Pennsylvania's firearms preemption law by passing three illegal gun control ordinances in April of 2019.
HB 1066 provides law-abiding citizens the ability to recover damages, reasonable attorney fees, and costs if a court finds that a local ordinance violates the state firearms preemption law (Title 18 §6120).
Not only that, but the bill allows membership organizations, like GOA, to sue on your behalf.
But House Republican leadership has ignored your emails and phone calls by not acting on HB 1066.
So, please contact the House Speaker and Majority Leader and demand they vote on and pass HB 1066 without amendment.

I assume Wolf will not sign this. I also assume there are insufficient votes for a veto override.
