Lost wallet with LTCF
Long story short, I lost my wallet on Saturday and had my CDL, my license to carry and a few other things in it plus money. Obviously somebody kept the money and threw the wallet away cuz it hasn't been returned. I just called my local sheriff's and they told me I have to apply for a brand new license to carry which can take a couple weeks and I legally cannot carry until that. My question is legally I have a license that doesn't expire until 2024 right now but I just don't have it on me it's been lost, is this legal?
Thank you SSgt.Tim Chambers......

It sucks but if you lost it then you no longer have it....I have a relative who lost their wallet and LTCF,they were told the same thing and had to re apply.

Apparently it is not like a drivers license where a duplicate is issued. But if you were stopped and questioned and you simply stated I don’t have it on me, if you were run through the system it would show you having a valid LTCF.

Re: Lost wallet with LTCF
As I understand it, you don’t have an LTCF. Rather you have been issued/granted ( that makes me angry) a License To Carry Firearms. That would mean YOU are a Licensed Person. You haven’t lost your rights or privileges just because you do not have access to the document. The document is merely that, a piece of paper/plastic attesting to a fact.
Think of it this way. You’re married, but your house burns down. Your marriage license was inside. Did you just get the world’s cheapest divorce? Or, are you merely homeless and still shackled to the woman that is giving you shit for cleaning cosmoline off an old gun with gasoline next to the water heater in her laundry room?
Yes, I have been granted a much-needed ‘office day’. I am making good use of it!

I believe that a DL has some leeway on having on your person, is the LTCF that way too? I thought it had to be on you if you were CC.

Re: Lost wallet with LTCF
No, you can produce it at arraignment if charged. THAT alone would prove it is merely a document attesting to a fact.

Re: Lost wallet with LTCF
There is a statute that you have to produce the document if legally requested by law enforcement, but not sure how it would play out on the street.
Can you get a new one fairly soon? I know Allegheny has some pretty flexible hours. That may dictate your risk tolerance of being unarmed vs. getting in a jam with law enforcement that wants to push the issue.

Re: Lost wallet with LTCF
Why would it takes weeks to get a new shall issue license? Is Allegheny County not one of those that do a license in 20 minutes?

Re: Lost wallet with LTCF
How’s he going to do that if he doesn’t have it? Hey the 2 constitutions we Pennsylvania citizens live under say we don’t need any license but somehow being in jail for not having one is in real life suck and unless you can somehow manage to get everybody on board with constitutional carry by arraignment time I suggest getting the document before you take a ride with a loaded gun.
