Is it possible to rent a bird dog?
I want to pheasant hunt strubel Lake but dont have a dog. Ive been once before and someone from the board was kind enough to meet up with me to give his 2 dogs some practice as they were still learning. We each did well that day, but I dont have his info anymore. Is there anyone on the board with a dog or two that is experienced at sniffing out the birds and willing to come along for a little money as well? Thanks.

Really?? No one wants to earn some cash while hunting at the same time? I'm missing something. Maybe someone from the board can shed some light on this for me

Try hunting at this place in NJ - they have bird dogs and guides. Not sure where in ChesCo you are - but they are probably less than 30 minutes from lower ChesCo.

Why don't you just buy a trained bird dog? There are places that do that. Not cheap though. I had a German Shorthaired Pointer that I bird hunted with. I can't say enough good things about the breed. Good pets too. However, I trained him myself.

Re: Is it possible to rent a bird dog?
Birdwood dog, thank you for the link. I'll look into that.
As to why I wont buy my own dog, I dont have time for pets. I work alot and cant consistently take care of one. Much less put the time into playing with him/her.
The cat idea is good one that I could take you up on if I go dove hunting Marine division two. Thank you for that.
Gun owner99, making noise is an option true, I just figured Id be spinning my wheels and just scaring them away before I even get close. Guess youve had success with this approach?
Im just trying to make the most of what little hunting time I have. Thanks guysLast edited by dadams831; November 8th, 2019 at 10:48 PM.

Try posting over at huntingpa. It's a dedicated hunting forum for PA. You may have some takers over there.
