    Question Savage 24 stuck

I'm helping a friend get a Savage model 24 back into working condition, looks to be mid 60's manufacture. So I got it all taken down, cleaned up, all the nooks and crannies cleaned and re-oiled. Now for some reason or another I can't get the barrels back completely in place on the receiver. They won't sit all the way down, like something is in the way. Anyone know much about these?

I agree with Rosco, check that first. Make sure you are locking the barrels down on the locking lug correctly. Then try closing it.

Make sure the fireing pins are not sticking out and the ejectors are hanging up. Hammers might be pressing them. I'd half cock them if possible and check the pins.

Ok, checked that, didn't appear to be the problem. Now what?
