I agree with others, my NRA membership is for the lobbying they do in Washington and nothing more. I have had a "rider" on my homeowners policy for years. It's not very expensive and it covers the actual value of my firearms. BTW the 3-4 different insurance companies I've had over 40 years or so have never required serial numbers OR a list of weapons covered. I am pretty sure if I ever needed to make a claim I would have to prove the value lost … I would expect that and have no problem with that, prevents scammers.

I was under the impression that most homeowner's policies will not cover firearms unless they are on a separate rider, which generally requires listing of the serial numbers. Something some are loathe to do. Have I been misinformed?

    Adios,

    Pizza Bob
My insurance company added some firearms to my homeowner's policy under "sporting goods" years ago as property covered. Later on, I purchased a new pistol and contacted them to add it and increase my coverage and for the first time, they asked for a photo of the gun and the serial number.

I dropped it and did not add any more firearms. I still have a few with some ammo covered.

For all those complaining about Ins. companies wanting serial numbers . Think about it , you have to give the vin # of your car to buy auto ins . No Company is going to insure some item that cant even be verified . Think about it .......................

Or, it's knowing that our society is full of idiots and criminals who might force you to use your firearm in self defense...

    This thread reminds me.
I was going to looking the following for insuring all my guns: https://collectinsure.com/
Supposedly this company does not require serial numbers.
Just an FYI for anyone else interested.

I just got off the phone with https://collectinsure.com/
I got quotes for my guns and my collection of Dala horses.

No idea what a Dala horse is ? See these links
    http://www.dalahorse.com/
    https://duckduckgo.com/?ratb=e&q=dal...ages&ia=images

I asked them if they insure guns. They said guns are one of the most popular things they insure.
They insure guns at their current market value. And they do NOT require serial numbers.
Although for high value individual firearms ($2500 ?); they will require photos and something to prove it's value.

My guns and Dala horses would be different policies.
Valuing guns at the most popular value of $10k
and valuing Dala horses at the lowest amount they will insure of $8k.
For where I live; each policy would be under $100 per year.

Now I just have to determine the actual value of my guns and Dala horses.

Seems I've heard that automobile/firearm comparison before. Think about it.
