Default NJ governor bans sale of insurance to gun owners

Just when we thought that no one could out do California or New York in the category of idiotic gun-control measure, in walks New Jersey. Here is their latest attempt to circumvent the 2nd Amendment and discourage responsible gun use by trying to make self-defense too costly a choice.

We’re just learning about an executive order that the governor issued in September that effectively banned the sale of insurance products that provide liability coverage to gun owners making it virtually impossible for concealed carry holders in New Jersey to get coverage.

Governor Phil Murphy’s order specifically said the state should, within 30 days, take all appropriate action “to prohibit and/or limit the sale, procurement, marketing, or distribution of insurance products that may serve to encourage the improper use of firearms,” according to a press release from the governor’s office.

As a result of this latest bout with lunacy, the U.S. Concealed Carry Association (USCCA) announced in early October that it would have to:

“Pull their services off the shelf for New Jersey gun owners.”

No worries, the feds will swoop in and charge the governor with interference with interstate commerce. Right?

It is an infringement on a Right guaranteed in the Constitution which all the states agreed to when they became states. Therefore it is not a state's rights issue, but you already know that. I don't see how any state is allowed to pass laws that affect gun ownership and lawful carry.

I know that. My point is, that insurance companies span state borders, and for the governor to prohibit citizens of his state to purchase a product from another state, he's interfering with interstate commerce. If a farmer can get in trouble with the feds for growing soy on his own land, then the governor here should be seeing the same fate.

But I doubt the feds would ever be interested in pursing such a case. They only go after those cases where it's a the little guy getting fucked up the ass. Same thing should have happened in NY when they did everything they could to fuck over the NRA relating to insurance.

How is it the courts interfere and weigh in when it has to do with abortion and voter ID, but rarely weigh in on clear violations of the the states when it comes to "bearing arms"?

I think Christy Whitman did a pretty good job of keeping certain companies at bay until the companies capitulated to her demands. One of the deals was PRNJ's "aggressive driver" program circa 2000. I seem to recall State Farm was out until they cooperated.

This is all nickle and dime stuff, an inconvenience at best.
Real gun control will happen at the state level via the implementation of obscene taxes on guns and ammo. Would you by the AR with a 50% tax on the gun and a 100% tax on ammo?
