Re: Retired cop/vet guns taken due to waitress wrongly overhearing his conversation
He wasn't arrested, he was fired and had his guns confiscated with zero due process.
If he was arrested and taken before a judge for due process it would still be bad, but at least he would not have his Civil Rights stripped from him arbitrarily based on rumor and supposition. How can you have any cookies if you don't drink your milk?

Yeah, I hear you.
The older we get the more we talk as we did in bygone eras.
But having said that, the Red Flag climate is the worst infringement on individual liberty I have seen in America during my lifetime.
Nothing short of sweeping aside the Bill of Rights in favor of totalitarian Fascism, which incidentally, has historically always been done in the name of public safety. How can you have any cookies if you don't drink your milk?

Re: Retired cop/vet guns taken due to waitress wrongly overhearing his conversation
The guy was voicing his concern over another employee shirking his duties. I guess that gets you red flagged or arrested if you expose a douchebag that isn't doing the job he's being paid to do, especially if it's the Chief's buddy who got him the job to begin with. Corruption is rampant and red flag laws are making it much worse. The same thing happened to that kid in NJ when he voiced his concern that the school was a ripe target and he was overheard about being quite concerned. People just plain have no sense whatsoever in this day and age. That Chief, the waitress and any other person involved in taking this man's rights away for voicing his concern should be fired and publicly shamed. Bring back the stocks.
Corruption is the default behavior of government officials. JPC

Re: Retired cop/vet guns taken due to waitress wrongly overhearing his conversation
My wife and I were on a flight back to PA on Thursday and we were discussing the sudden severe weather that was affecting travel on the east coast. I had to stop myself from saying "bomb cyclone" and instead just said "cyclone" out of fear that someone might overhear and overreact.
